Go 'beyond' Surface and Deep Learning - Using See, Do and Teach 'extended' process
From See, Do and Teach; to See (become Aware, and Explore), Do (Sample, Try[out], Experiment [and 'Play with], Practice [with reflection and feedback, including Deliberate Practice], (then) Teach (explain, elaborate, present) and then go beyond Teaching (extend Teaching and Practice, explore underlying ideas, improve and innovate) through Open Scholarship (including Micro-Scholarship)
Listen, and engage with case study, professional or personal narrative or 'story'
Identify the core 'generalisable' elements
Going beyond surface phenomenon and practices
To explore underlying principles and ideas
Then deeper 'laws'
Values, what is of fundamental value and valuable
For example
We (Why) Travel? Go to the gym? Workout? Work at (or on) something?
What are the immediate gains? Longer term payoffs?
Go beyond 'Why' to 'Who' is making either a conscious, intentional choice, with full awareness and deep personal insight; or from intentional habitual practice vs 'allowing' a habit to form unconsciously
Deepest Insights, from Reflective Practice, Feedback, Training and Coaching progressively illuminate Values, what is of fundamental value and valuable.
The heart of the matter or issue. Our true and deepest needs.
When this is truely and accurately understood; with deep insight of 'the ends' then comes wise and informed selection of 'the means'.
Ultimately, there are an infinite number of surface behaviours and manifestations, which are expressions of a few underlying principles, ideas, laws, and ultimately inner values, needs and wants.
To get a job done (hands)
To think well of a situation, or individuals and self (minds)
To feel (good) (hearts)
Simply put, passions (the heart) shape thinking (the mind) which drives action (the hands).
Go 'beyond' Surface and Deep Learning - Using See, Do and Teach 'extended' process; to progressively develop deeper insight and understanding, to enable intentional, and informed choices to be made.
Engage in open practice to get feedback
Share and Teach to learn
Write and engage in Scholarship to get to the 'heart' (of the practice, issue or matter), to refine thinking (principles, ideas, laws and mental models) and practice (the most efficient and effective way to get the job done)
